Finally. Yesterday, it got up to the high 50's so we took advantage of some outdoor time. John had to shoot some photos of an orange (both whole and cut) so we took Addie outside, armed with a rubber ball to keep Addie occupied, a camera and some citrus. John got a few photos in while Addie and I were playing catch, but then Addie realized that there was food available. She immediately absconded with one of the oranges and took off. We got it back, and finished the photo shoot, then gave her one of the orange halves to eat. Giddiness ensued. Here are some fun photos from our first real spring day:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Orange thief on the loose<br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNI3Aw7eZXgvJEiQdzhMGK5CsRZg4IUA3cdHbPnDdZk7zxKDvXeBTN37k8GEG8wInL4fEB8wkGkufiEdhXJXFT6u8_Y2rrKNh0xVVaq4q9N34mC3RPiQHhLVOEprhZklXjAMebh8cfVkY/s1600/IMG_5868.jpg"><img style="display: block; You may think I'm being tongue in cheek, but I'm truly not. I've wanted a Snuggie for ages, and the only thing better than one Snuggie is, you guessed it, two Snuggies. I have noticed though, that Snuggies bring with them a whole lot of static. I always get shocked after I wear one, and it always makes my hair fly away.<br /><br />Addie loves the Snuggies as well, but she too has fallen victim to the Snuggie Static Side Effect. Yesterday, she got a major dose of hair static and I was lucky enough to catch these pictures:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdYEXKiTWOb3ViGyv25QcgzBcqp9Kln-mph9obKCq-6owkq6li8q4cMou8vU_aBMal4hAGsVX6YTbLYHN9IymmNFwg-K1yvNPng-C78bqh_CWvGLU1KRRM3x_qW3t-rov75Kvjv_0hHjg/s1600-h/IMG_5588.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 334px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdYEXKiTWOb3ViGyv25QcgzBcqp9Kln-mph9obKCq-6owkq6li8q4cMou8vU_aBMal4hAGsVX6YTbLYHN9IymmNFwg-K1yvNPng-C78bqh_CWvGLU1KRRM3x_qW3t-rov75Kvjv_0hHjg/s400/IMG_5588.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426877623673367490" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd0bBY7hPhrcZFxDVXGZXdQRZk0PE-Sq43HEs7_omvOhQkl8bgMBuU4tx8n8Qs84kdaidn7sqNpP9GVERTcFY5H6eAXMUNMKqcH5NSLZPD8HctdmcpdWKAxFUiDh19z06Bc8HtptUJpco/s1600-h/IMG_5585.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 380px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd0bBY7hPhrcZFxDVXGZXdQRZk0PE-Sq43HEs7_omvOhQkl8bgMBuU4tx8n8Qs84kdaidn7sqNpP9GVERTcFY5H6eAXMUNMKqcH5NSLZPD8HctdmcpdWKAxFUiDh19z06Bc8HtptUJpco/s400/IMG_5585.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426877615560890130" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWfPDtMLRNFAFJJMpg8HhD8WooG4zg5hea21W8S1pCkrmQbFFQhiTChzvoPxWzwa400VivrLi5xUYOZ9LG1P6WwdqpsiqybNC66fj8kNqvTGtB6BydSMxjOb-ZcwVaZJHnPwvVpY8IQbc/s1600-h/IMG_5586.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 372px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWfPDtMLRNFAFJJMpg8HhD8WooG4zg5hea21W8S1pCkrmQbFFQhiTChzvoPxWzwa400VivrLi5xUYOZ9LG1P6WwdqpsiqybNC66fj8kNqvTGtB6BydSMxjOb-ZcwVaZJHnPwvVpY8IQbc/s400/IMG_5586.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5426877627914199426" border="0" /></a><br />Love. And yet it's so cute I still have to put it up. This is a video of Addie doing some interpretive dancing to Jingle Bells. We shot this in Hawaii which is why she's dressed like it's summer. <br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwAaR1I7hjp7gJJHv16AokIRv8RuWHlHz7gHBd8TO0R35Gp8SIgcFxZozkHLyngoNXt2ebglx4TzzJ50ajF' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><br><br>Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-7182810035307143722009-12-15T13:20:00.000-07:002010-04-09T01:24:11.469-06:002009: Our Year in ReviewConfession: I've never sent out Christmas Cards except to customers. It's true. I'm a complete failure at that tradition. I'm bad at "Thank You" notes too. Those of you who have given me gifts can attest to that. Every year I think that I'm going to be better and get it done finally, but I just never do. Not enough time. This year is no exception. However, I am taking a giant step forward this year. I'm doing a holiday "Year In Review" here on the blog, which will have to double as my Christmas Card, or rather, my Christmas Season Card. Here goes...<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">January 2009</span><br />We started the year off with Addie's baby blessing and Open House. It was such a great experience and we enjoyed being with so many friends and family members for this event. Addie looked like an angel and was so well behaved all day.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQkKc14cl6EIfuWRspZWWTMUopIOeW5OlXgZ-iRwC3efT-SSzDfma04HX4QEmBJiVBY7HmqmVsh-VFVfU8rjMS7O5weHC2z_wQBd4jTBro7LXROZtBBygLdoyEQcPy8MBc1GoFgvPOb_E/s1600-h/IMG_9587.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 308px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQkKc14cl6EIfuWRspZWWTMUopIOeW5OlXgZ-iRwC3efT-SSzDfma04HX4QEmBJiVBY7HmqmVsh-VFVfU8rjMS7O5weHC2z_wQBd4jTBro7LXROZtBBygLdoyEQcPy8MBc1GoFgvPOb_E/s400/IMG_9587.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420689728668622082" border="0" /></a>We were so grateful for all our friends and family who joined us in making it such a special day. January also brought lots and lots of cold weather and snow. And John got an iPhone which brought great warmth to him. John and I constantly argue weather my Blackberry or his iPhone is cooler. He generally wins, but I get my emails faster than he does.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">February 2009</span><br />Our company had a little employee switch. Alicia, who had worked for us for 4 years went on a mission to Oslo, Norway. We hired a dear friend Carrie to take her place and things have been just grand. Alicia is doing extremely well in Norway and Carrie has worked out great, other than the fact that she and I routinely disagree about whether or not the polar bears are really in danger. The really exciting news in February was that my best friend Candice got married! She married an AMAZING guy named Scott and we love him so much. It was so great to be at her wedding and see all the old roommates.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYkk7l2zCu5LJ1PzO6znwICHkLvsZW8gBbQ4y_P6E9KRbviUSxwdNXXha3oLmPihZkFlsf2k5S7k8bZ6ZBo2kEM2OXF4P3cFEVoToVuPpUaO2QeK-O21O3OjjDveFO5W0qO6nWByMmRzQ/s1600-h/IMG_9744.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 290px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYkk7l2zCu5LJ1PzO6znwICHkLvsZW8gBbQ4y_P6E9KRbviUSxwdNXXha3oLmPihZkFlsf2k5S7k8bZ6ZBo2kEM2OXF4P3cFEVoToVuPpUaO2QeK-O21O3OjjDveFO5W0qO6nWByMmRzQ/s400/IMG_9744.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421055399457549986" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimn1D8asLLJ3WpwQdI_GOv0A-GQ9DC8BiPZcp8mhTN73M0jvwbucFw6JqfYmE0fdaluK1niPK43F_5ch2mR_sbXK5uJI7L6K323ZbSnkhPwNDXE3sixBqXpOlIDEVXsYT6Nkrz2couD0o/s1600-h/IMG_9779.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 291px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimn1D8asLLJ3WpwQdI_GOv0A-GQ9DC8BiPZcp8mhTN73M0jvwbucFw6JqfYmE0fdaluK1niPK43F_5ch2mR_sbXK5uJI7L6K323ZbSnkhPwNDXE3sixBqXpOlIDEVXsYT6Nkrz2couD0o/s400/IMG_9779.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421055410308986114" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoM9EQTFEvBTqqipwczQST9hBl12z3iu9kq3NhWaYWHBZZneS8tr8N7NZ6OSZ3EImCa593XqbImS7zGAEMIzoZawo-vIHMuu19qHG-zuqZh-WVdXKTYXP8-fGVAfLcyiIyLf60vzDuIx4/s1600-h/IMG_9813.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 260px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoM9EQTFEvBTqqipwczQST9hBl12z3iu9kq3NhWaYWHBZZneS8tr8N7NZ6OSZ3EImCa593XqbImS7zGAEMIzoZawo-vIHMuu19qHG-zuqZh-WVdXKTYXP8-fGVAfLcyiIyLf60vzDuIx4/s400/IMG_9813.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421055415563574242" border="0" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">March 2009</span><br />John and I celebrated the 9 year anniversary of our first blind date. Every March 31st, I feel so incredibly blessed to have the random series of events take place that allowed me to meet and marry John. March 31st is practically a national holiday in our house. March was the month John bought me my new Canon Rebel camera which I adore. It was responsible for many great photos shot this year. Also in March, Addie started crawling. When she got bored with the crawling attempts, she moved into yoga poses and she did a mean downward dog before she was even mobile.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi0wTct2ry8Rz6PHivDs0I10pejSS1PdkGWVOBFUQwH8cX6go632jWoy9ohgnZDa4EI9ZEEMPzrXjVkShP1hjrz9fuC8erp6a4HAyk2a4-DzSn4M1KRgOLdh94Ns5PV1qhRzVn7TmDIQk/s1600-h/IMG_9891.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 287px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi0wTct2ry8Rz6PHivDs0I10pejSS1PdkGWVOBFUQwH8cX6go632jWoy9ohgnZDa4EI9ZEEMPzrXjVkShP1hjrz9fuC8erp6a4HAyk2a4-DzSn4M1KRgOLdh94Ns5PV1qhRzVn7TmDIQk/s400/IMG_9891.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421077515379594034" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0CN69bxxQ2qjzTV9vlPMNyIRJsA3OiCclCr4UyRB1chd9tWSOXRKGWwNeoesBhNGl5w-6pPdgJtU-gDD9A-fLhM25enEyenRwi6iiYUCejbV74A7VrLNRayoGofXP1mtc9aHjzUG5s60/s1600-h/IMG_9887.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 287px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0CN69bxxQ2qjzTV9vlPMNyIRJsA3OiCclCr4UyRB1chd9tWSOXRKGWwNeoesBhNGl5w-6pPdgJtU-gDD9A-fLhM25enEyenRwi6iiYUCejbV74A7VrLNRayoGofXP1mtc9aHjzUG5s60/s400/IMG_9887.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421077526370417330" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4UpAdHJqWxFZa34NhtIQqXtNlf349IfYxDYihn-xU_qvUrt8sGgN5tuIqaNa_zGkh2Pyjn5xTPIpQjKFymCt5hyphenhyphenZKTVOE8qjhM03tyLz0zL3-SZL9z0CkC4ZMS2Df6Q7h5z-xOd3Tz5Q/s1600-h/IMG_9877.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 301px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4UpAdHJqWxFZa34NhtIQqXtNlf349IfYxDYihn-xU_qvUrt8sGgN5tuIqaNa_zGkh2Pyjn5xTPIpQjKFymCt5hyphenhyphenZKTVOE8qjhM03tyLz0zL3-SZL9z0CkC4ZMS2Df6Q7h5z-xOd3Tz5Q/s400/IMG_9877.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421077534459050930" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7rWQpPS5Byj44kkTn1HtHY2mFYtzguB9Pdp6ShSObStYmFprYqHEzFXc8hy4m8GOLScjBbQkzlcL65fK-Bd_r_tUntGBxfrsCcl31iaJypYLnGo3v4p4ZFVOXRBQe1360hbNeBFbQJvk/s1600-h/IMG_9878.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7rWQpPS5Byj44kkTn1HtHY2mFYtzguB9Pdp6ShSObStYmFprYqHEzFXc8hy4m8GOLScjBbQkzlcL65fK-Bd_r_tUntGBxfrsCcl31iaJypYLnGo3v4p4ZFVOXRBQe1360hbNeBFbQJvk/s400/IMG_9878.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421077527477419106" border="0" /></a>We used to put up couch cushions so Addie couldn't escape the family room. Each July, I'm so glad that we got married in 2000 so keeping track of how many years we've been married is a breeze. John and some friends went on an expedition to Topaz Mountain. As it turns out, there is a saying in Seattle that nobody has air conditioning because you only need it one week out of the year. We chose that week to visit. It was very hot, but very fun. We took it off the market and started working with a designer, architect and structural engineer to do an extensive add-on/remodel of our existing home. Of course, the minute we did that, people started coming out of the woodwork, distraught that we took it off the market because they really liked it. Oh well. We're in the final stages of the plans right now and are going to start working with a few contractors over the next couple of weeks. Our fingers are crossed that everything works out!<span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /><br />October 2009</span><br />October brought both good times and bad. Our family is very close and have a regularly scheduled family dinner each month with all the extended aunts, uncles and cousins in town. Uncle John was an amazing man gave us laughter, adventure, wisdom and goodness. We miss him. It's sad that the only times everyone in the family gets together is for weddings and funerals, but that seems to be the case. We enjoyed work Christmas parties and family Christmas parties. We loved being with friends and family at this joyous time of year. My whole family came out for Christmas this year and it was just great to be with all of them, playing games and catching up. We loved, loved, loved seeing Addie's face on Christmas as she opened her gifts. We loved our time off over the break and have treasured every second that we've been able to spend together. We've loved 2009 and we're looking forward to 2010 and all it will bring. And we're busy writing resolutions.<br /><br />We hope all of you enjoyed a peaceful and happy Christmas season and that you have a prosperous and rewarding 2010.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM54CI_eEVikklbtCqMjABuWxlzWopZodMp6icNJubuiMVRHneISqKdnm20USOaunrt3CuNYfCfkjSYkNlOFPShjmA18Xby9RcuZbuDG4vYBpc33kzW5n1OUrZWgqvsfBnO3e-zh565B8/s1600-h/Family_Portrait_Small.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 371px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM54CI_eEVikklbtCqMjABuWxlzWopZodMp6icNJubuiMVRHneISqKdnm20USOaunrt3CuNYfCfkjSYkNlOFPShjmA18Xby9RcuZbuDG4vYBpc33kzW5n1OUrZWgqvsfBnO3e-zh565B8/s400/Family_Portrait_Small.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421438036827940866" border="0" /></a>Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-75718622825777273532009-12-14T13:29:00.000-07:002010-04-09T01:29:58.558-06:00Silent Night<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhnMDsj6ksyARGOT-zN7bLsNkUDmED5HUPccaNMX46pqphCAW29niN9bDrMx4Pve96qdY5NY79jvx5ZT7haaGUn3nZHzwxdOodfH6DjvQ31UVpppnLdtRXE31gWz835Yk8CxTcS72xItQ/s1600-h/mary_baby_jesus.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 323px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhnMDsj6ksyARGOT-zN7bLsNkUDmED5HUPccaNMX46pqphCAW29niN9bDrMx4Pve96qdY5NY79jvx5ZT7haaGUn3nZHzwxdOodfH6DjvQ31UVpppnLdtRXE31gWz835Yk8CxTcS72xItQ/s400/mary_baby_jesus.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418060881872087202" border="0" /></a>The other day I was caught up in the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. We'd been to several stores and we ended up in a crowded grocery store, buying food for dinner. I was running around the store so focused on avoiding crowds, hurrying through the deli line, and checking off everything on my lengthy shopping list. Frosty the Snowman was playing loudly over the store's speaker system and I was examining cheeses for the best expiration date. Then it happened. Softly at first, mostly because of all the competing noise and Frosty music, but there is was. A small choir by the front door of the store singing in beautiful four part harmony "Silent Night". As I focused on that song to hear it more clearly, the people, the noise, the rush and Frosty all faded away. Without warning, I felt tears well up in my eyes. I felt Christmas. I remembered what the season is for. I remembered the Savior. I remembered that Christmas is about the joy that comes from knowing Him and celebrating His birth, His life and His resurrection.<br /><br />Merry Christmas.<br><br>Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-49011323374455522952008-09-05T08:29:00.000-06:002010-04-05T08:34:21.038-06:00Exciting news!I'm back. After a bried hiatus, I'm ready to take responsibility for my blog once again. In case anyone is still reading and checking back for updates, your long wait is over. I last posted in June and shortly after my last post, we had a huge life changing event occur. We adopted a beautiful, amazing, perfect little girl. She was born in June and let me just say I never realized how quickly and completely I could fall in love with someone. I fell in love with her even faster than I fell in love with John, and as those of you who know me know, that was pretty darn fast. She is such a miracle and I can't imagine life without her here. Of course, John is absolutely smitten too. He is completely and utterly wrapped around her finger. Here is a shot of John holding the pumpkin a few hours after she was born:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8cMWoLXBB10zm_4Wkezvz9EDB45gGVfjkzvOpSd49JQgEF-k-1tW6nOOxzTIk1hkk4cbo-WVT0BgoKpW_8CK2dkFFnfbW6OH7T9jU8R3zx6z5FH8vVxO6YU08SPcmlj9uHWHDuV8zme4/s1600-h/addy&daddy.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8cMWoLXBB10zm_4Wkezvz9EDB45gGVfjkzvOpSd49JQgEF-k-1tW6nOOxzTIk1hkk4cbo-WVT0BgoKpW_8CK2dkFFnfbW6OH7T9jU8R3zx6z5FH8vVxO6YU08SPcmlj9uHWHDuV8zme4/s400/addy&daddy.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242724340896013090" border="0" /></a>I love the eye contact. Here's another fun shot of the whole family:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYFDqecP_GaR-FZUpS6QhFyiN-KDSQdOT_5sVxrF7ODIdyL3ZjMklTVJJGo2-HoT7iRLz7w35KiYnpvbzzQVceIMjH23MmVc4tSZnpiHWIc0sMGrkX3CfDII8Oy91k9nM6QnybdTmv_H0/s1600-h/Lepinski_Fam_Small.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYFDqecP_GaR-FZUpS6QhFyiN-KDSQdOT_5sVxrF7ODIdyL3ZjMklTVJJGo2-HoT7iRLz7w35KiYnpvbzzQVceIMjH23MmVc4tSZnpiHWIc0sMGrkX3CfDII8Oy91k9nM6QnybdTmv_H0/s400/Lepinski_Fam_Small.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242725200200410290" border="0" /></a>That shot was actually taken was the Pumpkin was only a week old. We were at my niece's wedding in Vegas. Here's another shot from the wedding breakfast:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkem9wpfRlIhROcPXv6wgPt_rzTCQzvkQd59HaE3NZDnmwpacDY3HOTgj0nL8B2Fn1sRqNfRgLVJwhhjnEWF7dfG4MbT3Mg22G40-i29SKbTlPWmpKBtSvKxGSJ8DpiHeJLMDWIKdPMe8/s1600-h/B&A.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkem9wpfRlIhROcPXv6wgPt_rzTCQzvkQd59HaE3NZDnmwpacDY3HOTgj0nL8B2Fn1sRqNfRgLVJwhhjnEWF7dfG4MbT3Mg22G40-i29SKbTlPWmpKBtSvKxGSJ8DpiHeJLMDWIKdPMe8/s400/B&A.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242725698396423906" border="0" /></a>So life is good, and now that things have settled down, I'll be blogging once again. And believe me, I have lots to catch you all up on! Stay tuned....<br><br>Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-15077165443632363002008-06-10T06:52:00.000-06:002010-04-05T06:53:53.081-06:00Little Red Riding Hood 2008Now that I've had a couple of days to recover, my tail bone is not causing me pain when I sit down, my welts from being pelted with hail have disappeared and I can walk without my legs rebelling, I can reflect on Saturday's ride and say without reservation that it was amazing! We had the best time and all felt extremely proud of ourselves. The scenery was breathtaking and it was the just the perfect girl's weekend. The only disappointing thing was that we didn't hit Cornish on time (we had to be there by 11:00 to ride the 102 mile route and we arrived at 11:15) so we were diverted to the 80 mile route. After a brief 30 second period of regret, we started up the next hill and I began to think I wouldn't miss those extra 22 miles after all. Here are some photos from the ride:<br /><br />This is the night before the race at about midnight in the hotel room. Yup, we should have been in bed hours ago. We look so happy and full of energy don't we? We had no idea what was coming.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7logTxQbK4iU6dml9_NmhU_Ytrt3NbMDJAALTXxl_BasI1wGlRsaxEbJ3V6nocMzjotyEna0KtfAIbY0slPYa59lWY5Mz8u2D0w-kmfDn9eaFUucekdxlna9Pzs34nYpkuyRx-KUlmro/s1600-h/pre-ride3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7logTxQbK4iU6dml9_NmhU_Ytrt3NbMDJAALTXxl_BasI1wGlRsaxEbJ3V6nocMzjotyEna0KtfAIbY0slPYa59lWY5Mz8u2D0w-kmfDn9eaFUucekdxlna9Pzs34nYpkuyRx-KUlmro/s320/pre-ride3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210260214940544866" border="0" /></a>I have no idea what I was looking at here, but whatever it was, it shocked me.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8tEwTm653qlbJFFj18jhqv0lQ3QXqG6r83YyjldVx5wzwsoIakNl3FqW6MqSllqfYwOZhgUn3ZgO-Zfei2_O_7VO3IDLhJwkyB3v5XERNy07qOhNijNCMTsgmo8-_nsxjNR0hDFThmzw/s1600-h/pre-race1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8tEwTm653qlbJFFj18jhqv0lQ3QXqG6r83YyjldVx5wzwsoIakNl3FqW6MqSllqfYwOZhgUn3ZgO-Zfei2_O_7VO3IDLhJwkyB3v5XERNy07qOhNijNCMTsgmo8-_nsxjNR0hDFThmzw/s320/pre-race1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210259886768084882" border="0" /></a>Here we are all ready to go.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy_0DkKA2aP2kPMDZT2HvvzeaccFrtotoY67mQBCJP1F0wydxTGec72B4Yd7zd-UpOBRGuq3AI3Iw_AlLnITAUVj9qjF3PNody7bH3K_babd_be4pc-6-w0M3-6kdE_p5WPr_RCM9CP8Y/s1600-h/pre-ride2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy_0DkKA2aP2kPMDZT2HvvzeaccFrtotoY67mQBCJP1F0wydxTGec72B4Yd7zd-UpOBRGuq3AI3Iw_AlLnITAUVj9qjF3PNody7bH3K_babd_be4pc-6-w0M3-6kdE_p5WPr_RCM9CP8Y/s320/pre-ride2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210259894065845426" border="0" /></a>Kristina, trying to remember if she forgot anything.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitkQ3SY3IR6yHH917L8u6wRJMpRPsL8EAtg58x36x0qam3dav8D9gnZbeWKF8efSTmL__Hf_SaOquLmjA8knQ2tooGRAjtTYOz6HI2j4M1BtSxtDY08NWmUR757__knmTQ4FDOfK1oZ_A/s1600-h/Tina_forgetting.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitkQ3SY3IR6yHH917L8u6wRJMpRPsL8EAtg58x36x0qam3dav8D9gnZbeWKF8efSTmL__Hf_SaOquLmjA8knQ2tooGRAjtTYOz6HI2j4M1BtSxtDY08NWmUR757__knmTQ4FDOfK1oZ_A/s320/Tina_forgetting.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210260924934072482" border="0" /></a>John seeing me off before heading out to go fly fishing all day. She's feeling a little insane for taking on this challenge right now but has the drive, the support of John and a great team to ride with. The route should be pretty level, no steep climbs (thank goodness!) but still, it's 100 miles and that is plenty. Here's how the route looks:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/century_route-789627.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/century_route-789538.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>The ride starts in Wellsville, UT and goes clear up to Preston, Idaho. It should be a fun day! For old time's sake, here is a photo of 3 out of the 4 team members. This was taken a few years back on an all-girls mountain biking getaway in Brianhead:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/11-brianhead_biking-773661.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/11-brianhead_biking-773646.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>We all look a little disheveled because we got caught in a surprise hail storm in June (who knew Brianhead's weather could be so volatile?) Here's to lots more riding memories together!<br /><br>Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-33073018655167087902008-02-18T09:45:00.003-07:002008-02-18T09:53:28.250-07:00End of an Era<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/RHall-Small-772653.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/RHall-Small-772639.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />We've watched somewhat sadly as John's old college dorms have been torn down to make way for bigger and better buildings. A few days ago, John snapped some photos of his beloved residence hall halfway through the demolition process. This the same hall which was a witness to many college pranks that only a floor full of freshman engineering students could have come up with. The horizon will not be the same without the looming profiles of Deseret Towers. Girl's Night is one of our favorite traditions and one the we can't do without. Tonight's dinner was at the Citrus Grill in Draper, complete with live music, good food and great company. They left us with such a wicked cliff hanger last year, that we didn't think we would survive the wait. Fortunately for us, we did. So we turned on the New Year's Eve Dick Clark thingy about 10 minutes before midnight on New Year's Eve, and in the last commercial before the ball dropped, they aired the Season 4 trailer. We were mesmerized, as it was the first time we had seen it. Since we have DVR, we rewound the trailer to watch it again, and were so engrossed in it that we completely missed the clock striking midnight. Basically, we totally missed the entrance of the new year all because of Lost, and we were actually OK with that. We turned back to the Dick Clark thing at about 12:05, just in time to hear Ryan Seacrest say "That was amazing. Really amazing. It's amazing because there is confetti everywhere. Dick Clark, back to you. What do you think of all this?" Then Dick Clark said, "It was amazing. There's confetti everywhere. Amazing. Back to you Ryan." Then Ryan said "Yes, this is truly amazing." So basically, we didn't feel like we missed a thing.<br /><br />Just so you don't feel like you've missed out, here is the LOST Season 4 Trailer:<br /><br /><center><object height="355" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CAatKZb8RZE&rel=1"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CAatKZb8RZE&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" height="355" width="425"></embed></object></center><br />It just gives me shivers. 25 days to go...Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-36323029078050711832008-01-06T18:56:00.000-07:002008-01-06T19:11:29.681-07:00New Year's Resolution #1 - Eating Healthier<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/vegetables-702157.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/vegetables-702154.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>It's that time of year. Christmas is over and it's time to get serious about our goals for 2008. While we try to eat healthy on a regular basis, I will admit that we had a whole lot of "off days" over the holidays :) But that's what the holidays are for, right? Well, starting tomorrow, we are getting back on the wagon, waking up early and going to the gym every day, eating the healthy foods and avoiding the bad ones. Unfortunately, this will involve spending less time with some of my best friends, cheese and chocolate. However, I will get to spend time with some old friends that may be feeling neglected (sorry spinach and chard, we've been apart too long).<br /><br />Look for some great healthy recipes that we've come up with on our food blog at <a href="http://http://barbandjohn.com/food/">http://barbandjohn.com/food/</a>. Our annual Christmas tradition is a little more unique/twisted. Every year, Barb sets up the Christmas Village, complete with a town hall, church, post office, school, and several villagers. It starts out looking quite traditional and delightful, like this:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_Before-731809.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_Before-731795.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />As soon as Barb completes her rendition of the village, John always sneaks in with some powerful and destructive force that puts the entire village in peril. The first year he did it, Barb came home one day to find that the Millennial Falcon had landed in the middle of the village, and that Star Wars bounty hunters were holding several villagers at gunpoint. The year after that, the village was terrorized by famous Hollywood monsters, including Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman and The Mummy. Last year, the hapless villagers were captured and and plundered by a fierce band of pirates. So after surviving all that, Barb came home this year to find that the village had fallen victim to bloodthirsty pack of thought-to-be-extinct dinosaurs. Here's what our Christmas Village ended up looking like this year:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After4-788833.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After4-788815.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After3-750038.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After3-750015.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After1-708870.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After1-708851.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After2-767116.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Village_After2-767099.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>There you have it. Stay tuned to see what misfortunes will befall the villagers next year. Merry Christmas!Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-34429028422100237752007-12-01T23:32:00.000-07:002007-12-02T09:40:14.582-07:00Snow Day!Right on cue, December 1st arrived with the first real snow storm of the season. It was snowing when we woke up this morning and it kept coming down pretty much all day, until about 6:00 tonight. I love snow days, especially if they come on weekends when you don't have to drive in it unless you really want to. To celebrate the first Snow Day of the season, we slept in, made hot cocoa and popcorn, played Christmas music, shoveled the driveway (not necessarily a celebration), stocked up on groceries for the rest of the weekend, and rented a movie to watch at home tonight. Pretty much the perfect snow day :)<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Front_Yard-798865.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/Front_Yard-798843.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>One of my favorite things about a good snowfall is how pretty the trees in the front yard look.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/BNJSnow-786100.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/BNJSnow-786077.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Ready to brave the snow and go shopping. John doesn't look as excited for the snow as Barb because he would rather be enjoying some tropical surf and warmer weather, but he'll survive.<br /></div>Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-64127621537241343882007-11-29T20:43:00.000-07:002007-12-05T22:52:39.992-07:00Little Known Fact--We Can Dance! For those of you who don't know about our hidden dancing talent, click on the link below to be blown away and to enjoy some holiday cheer:<br /><br /><center><object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ryt6ehBpvH8&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ryt6ehBpvH8&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object></center><br />If you want to make an elf of yourself, or if you want to see our dance in more detail, go to <a href="http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1113256356">http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1113256356</a>, and you can create your own elf.Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-68499564443449386972007-11-24T09:34:00.000-07:002007-11-30T07:45:16.084-07:00Some "Enchanted" Movie<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/enchanted-poster-web-776453.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/enchanted-poster-web-776450.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Last night we went to see the new Disney movie "Enchanted" and we absolutely loved it. We weren't sure what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised by how well they pulled this one off. Disney actually brought back the musical genre, and did it with style, thanks to the help of Stephen Schwartz who brought us the amazing music of "Wicked". In fact, for those "Wicked" fans, the original Elphaba, Idina Menzel actually has a part in this movie. Our favorite, though, was Amy Adams, who was the perfect Disney princess brought to life. "The Office" fans may remember her as the "Hot Girl" from seasons 1 and 2. Prince Edward will also seem familiar to X-Men fans, as he played "Cyclops". Who knew Cyclops and the Hot Girl could sing? They are actually really good, and the music is just so much fun. And of course, Patrick Dempsey of Grey's Anatomy fame rounds out the cast with a dry sense of humor and a great performance.<br /><br />Bottom line is, we left the theater with huge smiles on our faces, and this movie just made us feel good. So do yourself a favor and go see Enchanted soon! If you haven't seen the trailer, you can watch it below:<br /><div align="center"><br /><object height="355" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CLdKwdGdZaI&rel=1"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CLdKwdGdZaI&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" height="355" width="425"></embed></object></div>Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-67305125304724873182007-11-19T19:25:00.001-07:002007-11-20T11:06:12.983-07:00Time Capsule DiscoveredSo we spent this last weekend cleaning and organizing some closets in our house. Throughout the course of the day John discovered a veritable time capsule--an entire Tupperware container of undeveloped film. Now this really was a blast from the past because let's face it, who uses film cameras anymore? So I headed down to the 1-Hour photo place at Sam's Club to see what was hidden in those little plastic canisters. It was weird having to wait for an hour, and it seemed horribly backwards, but c'est la vie. It was like opening a time capsule when we started to look through the stacks of lost pictures. What we came across was one of the tackiest photos we have ever seen, starring us. Here's the story: We went to a friend's wedding, and they wanted us to take a picture with them. I'm assuming the end result the photographer was looking for was a shot of the bride and groom sharing a kiss, and us, the supportive couple, looking on admiringly. However, when the photog got ready to shoot the picture, he said "Now go ahead and kiss," and we assumed he was addressing all of us, so John laid a big fat kiss on me. The funny thing was that the bride and groom actually didn't kiss and just stared into space. So now we have a picture of us making out at our friends wedding while they look bewildered. In the photo below we have blurred the faces of the innocent.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/irony-blue-741391.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/irony-blue-741348.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />We also found one other gem, in which I look like a refugee and John looks like a Sith Lord. The ironic thing this was supposed to be a historic photo because it was taken at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake. At the time the picture was taken, I was hoping for something a little more classic. In our defense, it was about 10 degrees below zero. So here is our historic Olympic portrait:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/olympics-778033.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://barbandjohn.com/blog/uploaded_images/olympics-778005.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />We also found a lot of cool landscape and underwater shots that we took years ago, so it was just kind of a fun discovery. If you ever run across old film, always develop it! You never know what you might find :)Barb and Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02919544353859821403noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8729864673795087.post-87124155118091098322007-11-17T13:07:00.000-07:002007-11-17T13:11:23.076-07:00Patches - The Coolest Horse Ever!<div align="center"><object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/teHfyby_veU&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/teHfyby_veU&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object><br /></div><br />OK, we never would have believed it if we hadn't seen it with our own eyes.
