Silent Night
The other day I was caught up in the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. We'd been to several stores and we ended up in a crowded grocery store, buying food for dinner. I was running around the store so focused on avoiding crowds, hurrying through the deli line, and checking off everything on my lengthy shopping list. Frosty the Snowman was playing loudly over the store's speaker system and I was examining cheeses for the best expiration date. Then it happened. Softly at first, mostly because of all the competing noise and Frosty music, but there is was. A small choir by the front door of the store singing in beautiful four part harmony "Silent Night". As I focused on that song to hear it more clearly, the people, the noise, the rush and Frosty all faded away. Without warning, I felt tears well up in my eyes. I felt Christmas. I remembered what the season is for. I remembered the Savior. I remembered that Christmas is about the joy that comes from knowing Him and celebrating His birth, His life and His resurrection.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas.
